New Perspectives: The Internet 10e Comprehensive
Chapter 4
Module 4 was interesting and I liked it better than the last few modules. When I read module 3 I felt like it was lacking a lot of other search options and resources, so I was glad to see they were covered in this module. Most of this information wasn't new to me, as I have used most of the sites highlighted before, but a few were new to me. I never heard of zumper before, or Bartleby.com. I'm probably going to check out Bartleby after I'm done here because I am curious what it's about, though i wish the book had been a little more descriptive of what the site was specifically about.
I also very much enjoyed the section that broke down the ways that different music file formats work and their uses. While I knew that MIDI files were good for simple notes and easier to edit, I didn't know that WAV files were actually higher quality than MP3, and I was not aware of those other formats at all. I wished that the section on video had done the same.
The section about copyright was interesting and seemed like good information. None of it was that new to me, but it was good to see it laid out together and understand the history and best practices of something that is a bit too complicated at times.
I liked this chapter. It was a good refresher and I felt like it tied together a lot of the ideas the book has been building up.
