CIS145: Internet Concepts with HTML

For Fall 2024 I took the CIS145 class with Professor Weidner! I came into this class with some prior knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript, but I still feel that this class was helpful in broadening the scope of what I know, and helping me to understand areas where my knowledge was lacking. This class covered both HTML and many topics related to the internet, with interesting discussions and a broad overview of topics. I learned far more about networks and cybersecurity than I knew before, and I got a lot out of the class.

As a part of the class, we studied from the book New Perspectives: The Internet 10e Comprehensive, by Jessica Evans and Ralph Hooper, published by Cengage. As a part of our assignments, we had to write reflections on each chapter as we read them. You can read my opinions on each chapter below! I had mixed opinions on the material, as you will see.

You might notice that Chapter 8 is skipped. That's because that's the chapter on HTML. We skipped it because it was the focus of the second half of class! Also, we used "chapters" and "modules" interchangably. The book calls them modules, so my reflections call them modules, but for the purposes of this site I call them chapters.
